Coastal shrub found from the Three Kings Islands to Poverty Bay. Tolerates dry coastal conditions.
Pseudopanax lessonii is a shrub of coastal forest and scrubby areas, growing up to 4-6m tall and has attractive leathery leaves which are composed of 3-5 leaflets. Green flowers are followed by dark purple, fleshy fruits.
Particularly good for coastal plantings. Responds well to pruning and performs better in dryer conditions.
