Much-branched sprawling shrub with hairy branches

Pimelia villosa is endemic to North and South Island as well as Chatham Islands.

It is a much-branched sprawling shrub with hairy branches and leaves. Hairs are present on both sides of the leaves. Leaves are pointy and flowers are white and hairy followed by black, red, pink or white fruits.

Can be seen growing at Spirits Bay, Pataua North and Ocean beach.

It's existence is threatened due to habitat modifications, competition from marram grass, browsing of seedlings by possums, damage from vehicle traffic or seed predation by rodents.
