Slow growing maintaining slender shape for many years.

Librocedrus bidwillii is a evergreen pyramidal coniferous tree that is endemic to the North and South Islands. In the North from Te Moehau, Te Aroha and Mt Pirongia south. The large tree can reach a height of 25m. Easily recognised because of its bright green scale-like leaves and upright compact form. Does best in a deep, well mulched, moist, fertile soil. Makes an excellent specimen tree. Libocedrus bidwillii is however, better suited to cooler climates. It does not like drought or humidity. The tree flowers in August to September followed by the fruiting in July to August.
