Found in coastal areas upper Northland and Off-Shore Islands
This is the largest of the ToeToe, stout tussocks (clump grasses), it is confined to coastal areas of the upper North Island, such as Northland, Bay of Plenty and Waikato and grows in areas such as lowland sand dunes, cliffs as well as rocky places.
This majestic grass can stand up to 6m tall when flowering. The leaves are as much as 5cm wide and 3m long, and the edges are not as sharp as the other species. It has dense creamy gold flowering plumes up to 75cm long, which may be erect or arching.
