Coastal to montane robust tussock

This native grass is found from coastal to montane areas and is also common alongside streams, lake margins, in damp spots within forest clearings, dunes and cliffs.

It is a robust, stout, tussock-forming grass and reaches up to 3.5m when in flower. Flowering occurs between September to November.

It is endemic to the North Island as well as the very top of the South Island.
