Establishing a gannet colony had been on the radar for some time. Nan Pullman our local Queen Elizabeth 11 Trust representative suggested we apply for funding through the Stephenson Trust.

Every year for over 28 years the WDC have been giving Free plants for local ratepayers. Tawapou Coastal Natives are the growers of this trees.

When Guy Bowden’s parents bought a coastal farm at Matapouri, Northland back in the mid 1960s they immediately fenced off some of the bush. That was before the days of the QE II National Trust and land covenants.
