Spreading often twisted branches, small olive-like fruit. Very hardy and ideal for coastal areas.

Nestiges apetala is a small tree that is native to Northern New Zealand. The tree is more commonly known for its Māori name Marie. The natural habitat of the marie tree is strictly coastal and is found growing on exposed margins, rocky slopes, cliff faces, talus slopes and exposed ridge lines as well as forming a minor sub canopy in closed forest. The tree can reach a height of 6m and a spread of 4m and has beautiful leathery, dark green glossy leaves. Small green and yellow flowers appear in October through to January.

Very attractive tree with distinctive growth feature from its twisting and winding form. Looks great in large tubs, raised gardens or as a street avenue tree. The marie tree is frost sensitive but is very drought, wind and salt tolerant making it a great addition to any coastal garden.
