Edible perennial herb
Lepidium oleraceum is a nationally endangered perennial herb which was once a widespread coastal plant and is now only found growing on offshore islands and offshore rock stacks. Also known commonly as Cook's scurvy grass because the herb was used by Cook as an antiscorbutic. This plant produces beautiful white flowers year round but mainly from September to March. This species does best in full sun and thrives in friable soils making it a fast growing perennial.
