Sprawling shrub with large lemon yellow flowers

Hibiscus diversifolius is a widespread species of hibiscus that is indigenous to New Zealand. The largest population occurs on the eastern side of Te Paki growing in coastal, wetland, stream sides and is often found growing amongst Raupo. The attractive shrub has sprawling and tangled branches with undivided, broad green leaves. Hibiscus diversifolius has white flowers with purple centres that occur in September through to April followed by a dry 20mm long friut capsule. The shrub most commonly grows to 3m but can reach a height of 10 if planted in a sheltered spot. Hibiscus diversifolius is tolerant of ponds and boggy ground but can be frost tender.

Hibiscus diversifolius is perfect for costal gardens and can bring colour and height to any garden.
